Have you ever wondered what the opposite of politics is? It’s metaphysics. It sounds strange, but that’s how it is.
Politics is materialistic; it makes you betray, lie, accuse, and hate. The more political you become, the more things you will want, the more money you will seek, and the more material desires you will pursue. The entire world is embroiled in politics.
Metaphysics is the opposite. It lies beyond physics, beyond what can be touched, measured, and weighed. It’s the realm of the invisible. The deeper you delve into metaphysics, the more detached you become. This detachment liberates you, rendering you sincere, humble, and authentic. The more metaphysical you are, the less everything else matters. Money becomes trivial, and you realize that all the pleasures of the world lead nowhere.
Politics is the realm of duality, while metaphysics is that of unity.
Duality makes you see everything in opposites: this is good, this is bad; I hate this guy to death, I follow that one to the grave. I love my country; I hate that other one. Duality traps you, imprisoning you in the material world. It pushes you to extremes, to opposite poles. It leads you to say things like, “We must kill all those bastards, by any means necessary, for the good of everyone.”
Metaphysics leads you to unity, but unity with what? With the spiritual. This makes you free and detached; it enables you to see everything as temporary. You’ll see both sides as mistaken: the leftists, the rightists, the blues, the reds, or the greens. Metaphysics elevates you and improves you as a person; it makes you see friends and enemies in the same light. It leads you to say things like, “It doesn’t matter what happens; the goal is to get out of here. I’m done with all these politicians, all these fights. I’m fed up. I need to leave this place, find the truth, and transcend.”
The cure for politics is metaphysics and spirituality.
That’s why, when I see so much political activity, so many people absorbed in duality, I try to be cautious. While choosing a side is sometimes necessary to combat destructive ideologies, it must be done from a place of detachment, with the perspective that metaphysics is our goal and unity with the spiritual as the solution to move us away from here.
